Tourism Skills Road Shows 19 Sep 2008

The first Tourism Skills Road Shows for Cornwall have been arranged in 3 key locations this autumn, kicking off with St Michael’s Hotel, Falmouth on 14th October and followed by those at St Mellion International near Saltash on 23rd October and The Headland, Newquay on 4th November. Tourism bosses will be given help to better up-skill themselves and their workforce at the events which will bring together the training providers, skills brokers and funders under one roof.

As well as an opportunity to meet representatives from various training providers visitors to the Road Shows can also find out about the Unlocking Cornish Potential scheme and the Platinum Provider quality work experience scheme. They can also join in on a programme of seminars on key topics including ‘Why should you invest in training’, how to use NVQs to improve staff performance and why and how to support basic skills needs in the workforce. Tourism Skills Road Show announced 7 Jul 2008

We are pleased to announce the details of the Tourism Skills Road Show which will be touring Cornwall in the autumn. The events will enable managers of tourism and hospitality businesses to get information and advice on tourism relevant skills development with no pressure to buy. "This is particularly timely with all the new offers which are now being made available to businesses with the Convergence funding and extended Train to Gain service. Sustainable Tourism courses support by new European funding 19 Jun 2008

Convergence funding has been secured for the delivery by Cornwall College of the popular 3-day Sustainable Tourism BTEC courses as part of the COAST support package for businesses seeking to gain accreditation under the Green Tourism Business Scheme. 13 courses will run between June 2008 and February 2009 to enable individuals to gain the skills and knowledge to help their business operate sustainably and meet the stringent GTBS standards. The European funding will support one person per business to undertake one course. The first courses will be running in July with further courses from September and through the winter months.
